About Imam Abu Dawud
Imam Abu Dawud Sulayman ibn al-Ash‘ath al-Sijistani (817–889 CE) was a leading scholar of hadith and the compiler of Sunan Abu Dawud, one of the six major hadith collections recognised in Sunni Islam. Born in Sijistan, he travelled widely to learn from scholars and gather narrations of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. His Sunan is especially valued for its arrangement of hadith around Islamic law and everyday religious practice. This book presents a selection from that larger collection.
